Toys Hill
There’s even more to this spot on the Greensand Ridge than spectacular views and its status as a Grade I site of national importance for nature conservation. Social reformer Octavia Hill was inspired to help found the National Trust around here.
One of the area’s many fabulous walks links Toys Hill with Ide Hill, where you can see her commemorative bench. Along the way, the views over the Weald of Kent will help you see exactly why she felt this place was so special.
Toys Hill is part of the Greensand Ridge and known for its diverse and abundant wildlife. You might spot grass snakes, adders, bats and dormice. In spring, the woodland is carpeted with bluebells. In summer, wildflowers spring up everywhere. Fungi take centre stage in autumn. It’s little wonder the area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
