Chiddingstone Castle

The privately owned Chiddingstone Castle is a mock-medieval house with Tudor origins on the edge of the National Trust-owned Tudor village of Chiddingstone.

It houses a fascinating collection of art and antiquities, and there’s a tea room, gift shop and second-hand bookshop, too. The castle is surrounded by 35 acres of informal gardens. It’s usually a tranquil spot for a woodland walk or a picnic spread in front of the glorious Eden Valley views, but don’t be surprised to find the place packed with people here for one of the Castle’s popular festivals and seasonal events. Keep an eye out for Listening Room concerts.
